Are robots cooking up a storm in restaurants?

CONTRIBUTORS

DESCRIPTION

Restaurant robots aren’t a new concept. Many eateries in China have been using robots as waiters – albeit occasionally for publicity-driving purposes - for over a decade. However, the idea of ‘intelligent restaurants’ using fully automated systems is new and looks likely to gain more traction in future. Cobotics, where people and robots work collaboratively to deliver the best results front-of house and behind-the-scenes, is becoming an increasingly viable option in commercial catering. The most successful restaurants will be those that can incorporate cutting-edge technology without compromising on human customer service.
