The Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) has been criticised for causing humans to move less and for having a negative impact on our mental health. While these criticisms are fair, the 4IR is also offering the opportunity to innovate the way we experience exercise, whether it be a private yoga practice or an interactive group cardio class. These innovations, ranging from virtual or “live outdoor” reality to video game adaptions, are seeing technology harnessed as a tool that encourages people to get fit in an increasingly connected world.
