Siemens is a founding partner of GMIS. The partnership with GMIS aims to place manufacturing at the heart of global problem-solving and sustainable industrial development. Siemens, through its focus on electrification, automation and digitalization, has a major stake in global transformation across enterprise and the public sector. A landmark pilot project between Siemens, Strata and Etihad Airways Engineering has successfully developed the first aircraft interior part to be designed, certified and manufactured with 3D printing technology in the Middle East and was presented at GMIS 2017.
At the opening ceremony of the first Global Manufacturing and Industrialization Summit (GMIS) in Abu Dhabi, Joe Kaeser, President and CEO of Siemens AG, bolstered the company’s strong commitment to developing local skills in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) by announcing an in-kind software grant of up to 100 million euros. The grant will see the company’s Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and MindSphere software used for academic and institutional purposes to develop the skills required to drive the country’s digital transformation.
