Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority supports Manifesto for Global Industrial Safety and launches strategic agreements to enhance global leadership
The announcement was made during the 2024 edition of the Global Manufacturing and Industrialisation Summit (GMIS2024), held as part of Abu Dhabi Business Week. The event brought together global leaders, decision-makers, and representatives of international organisations, with ADCDA signing three strategic global partnerships, reaffirming its commitment to leveraging modern technologies to safeguard lives, protect property, and enhance operational efficiency.
The summit witnessed the signing of a strategic partnership between ADCDA and the Global Manufacturing and Industrialisation Summit, in the presence of representatives from the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), to officially join the Global Initiative for Industrial Safety (GIFIS) and support efforts to scale the global adoption of the Manifesto. This partnership aims to boost investment, accelerate the integration of advanced technologies, and foster the development of resilient industrial ecosystems.
ADCDA also signed an agreement with the Global MICE Organization Limited (GMOLx) to organise an international conference and exhibition on industrial safety in Abu Dhabi. This event aims to provide a global platform to foster dialogue among industry leaders and policymakers, driving innovative solutions for global safety challenges and achieving sustainability in the industrial sector.
In another step to enhance the industrial sector's emergency preparedness, ADCDA signed an agreement with Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO) and Ambipar, a leading environmental and industrial solutions company. The agreement seeks to strengthen emergency response capabilities and risk management in industrial facilities, including the adoption of advanced technologies such as drones to improve inspection and assessment processes, and establishing a framework for assessing the integration of cutting-edge technologies and industry best practices into the emirate's emergency response sector.
The agreements underscore Abu Dhabi's position as a global hub for industrial innovation and reflect ADCDA's commitment to leveraging innovation to achieve the highest global safety standards, aligning with its efforts to protect lives and property and enhance industrial sustainability.
Brigadier General Salem Abdullah bin Barak Al Dhaheri, Acting Director General of ADCDA, said: "These partnerships represent a qualitative leap in the authority's efforts to position Abu Dhabi as a global centre for industrial safety. The signing of the Industrial Safety Charter and the strategic partnerships we have launched reflect our steadfast commitment to protecting lives and property, enhancing industrial sustainability, and leveraging innovation to achieve the highest global safety standards. We are dedicated to collaborating with our local and international partners to achieve a shared vision for a safer and more sustainable future.
"These initiatives highlight Abu Dhabi's pioneering role in leading global efforts to develop innovative solutions in industrial safety, further solidifying its status as a leading global destination in this critical sector and supporting its aspirations to establish a safe and sustainable industrial environment at both the local and international levels."
Namir Hourani, Managing Director of the Global Manufacturing and Industrialisation Summit, said: "By joining forces with the Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority, it is not only setting a new benchmark for safety frameworks but also accelerating the global adoption of the Manifesto for Global Industrial Safety. Technologies that enhance safety procedures are crucial to protecting both assets and the workforce and accelerating their adoption is essential to ensure sustainable growth. This collaboration is a testament to the power of cross-sector partnerships to build industrial ecosystems that prioritise saving lives, safeguarding operations, and driving meaningful progress for industries across the world."
